Ganesha (lord of wisdom) is one of our loved gods. We all were eagerly waiting for him, and now here he comes. This year Ganesh Chaturthi’s date is fixed as for Friday 25th of August. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated as a birthday of Lord Ganesha. It falls on the fourth day after new moon in Bhadrapad (August- September), a Hindu month.
Ganesha is known as vighneswara means who can remove all your obstacles. This is the festival of worshiping Lord Ganesha which brings joy and unites all the people of different regions but with the same belief in God. This year Ganesh Chaturthi starting on 25th of August and Anant Chaturdashi is on 5th of September.
It is a festival in which people bring an idol of Ganesha in their home or office as a guest and worship him for a day and a half, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days and 11 days as per their family tradition.
The Ganesh Chaturthi date is:
- Begins at 20:27 on 24th August 2017
- Ends at 20:31 on 25th August 2017
Laabh time for installation of Ganesha between 07:59 to 09:33 and Amrit Time i.e. between 09:33 to 11:07 on August 25, 2017.
It has been said that Lord Ganesha was born in Madhya kaal which is between 12:40 and 14:14. This muhurat is best to perform any work regarding Ganesh puja.
Ganesh Chaturthi Pooja is beginning with the installation of the idol of Lord Ganesha in a home on subh muhurat with full participation of relatives and friend who express their happiness of welcoming Ganesha through traditional music and dancing on the way home.
Then they worship him for next few days in their special way to impress their guest with delicious dishes, flower decoration, puja etc. Then on the last day, the idol is taken out to the sea again with all the people involved continuing musical and colorful procession on their way to the sea in which the immersed with the hope of him fulfilling their desired wishes.
There are many stories behind this festival’s origin and many ways of celebrating this festival according to different beliefs. One thing which is common is the love of all the devotees and the joy Ganesha brings in the life of his devotees in the form of Ganesh Chaturthi.
